Great Black-backed Gull (Larus marinus)

Great Black-backed Gull(Larus marinus) 2cy: April 19 2002, Le Portel - Boulogne sur Mer, France (50.42 N - 01.34 E).

Probably a female. New scapulars are growing in in the lowest row. Note the old and abraded tertials. By April, the inner 2 or 3 primaries may be shed and in many cases tail-feather moult has started in 2cy birds.
