Great Black-backed Gull (Larus marinus) 3cy: February 04 2002, IJmuiden, the Netherlands (52.27 N, 4.33 E).

The lower scapulars and single coverts are rather plain dark grey. All other coverts show the common pattern for second generation feathers: broad bars which are connected with each other by a clear shaft streak. Note the small white tips on the primaries and the small mirror on the outer primary, just visible in the picture. This bird has remarkable coloured legs: one flesh coloured, the other yellow-orange.
