Great Black-backed Gull (Larus marinus) 3cy, May 17 2002, Le Portel - Boulogne sur Mer, France (50.42 N - 01.34 E).

A very powerful and dominant GBBG, most probably a male. In this bird, inner and outer median coverts have been replaced for blackish feathers and probably the two tracts will meet at the central coverts, creating a solid dark bar. A few scapulars have the same all dark appearance.
