Iceland Gull (glaucoides) 3cy, January 25 2009, Peterhead, Scotland. Picture: Chris Gibbins.

Age 3cy: showing bi-coloured bill with pale base, pale amber-yellow iris, dark markings on most of the coverts and tertials.

Primary category: --

Bird in dark end of the spectrum: obvious vermiculated pattern on scapulars, coverts and tertials. Outer primaries with pale grey centres, quite extensive, leaving just a thin white fringe on the outer primaries. Tip of P6 also with pattern, somewhat loosely, but also just a shade darker than P8-P9 it seems.
