Heuglini 2cy, April 08 2011, Ashdod, Israel. Picture: Amir Ben Dov.

Typical 2cy heuglini by April: 2nd gen wing-coverts just replaced, still very neat and many feathers with club-pattern. Scapulars pale grey, compared to fuscus, which is normally the other taxon with fresh wing-coverts this time of the year (the two tundra species). Outer wing-coverts still juvenile; however, feathers in good condition.
