The complete summer moult started recently. P1-P3 are fully grown third generation, while the outer primaries P7-P10 are still old second generation by early July. This individual is obvious paler grey than fuscus, almost matching local argentatus, so also much paler than average Swedish intermedius. Note the flat head and the parallel bill, lacking an obvious gonydeal angle, as can also be found in cachinnans.
The tail-feathers are still old second generation, and will probably be moulted in the ordinary sequence of the complete moult. Together with the new inner primaries, the median covert row, upper tertials, inner greater coverts and lower lesser coverts are replaced for more adult-like grey feathers.
