Cachinnans - nest Lelystad 072

General remarks:

  • Eggs: Volume measured by Stonehouse (1964) and Spaans & Spaans (1975), which make comparison possible with data from Texel (Camphuysen pers comm 16.04.2020).
  • Location marked with "red spot & white circle" on large block.
  • Nest 072 on breakwater dam 1 at north side, section with dense vegetation. 2 meters north of nest 66 ("66" marked on blocks). But position unclear.
  • ID for nest 072 uncertain in 2021, probably Caspian Gulls cachinnans. Limited data.

No images. Visits and data.

date:
06-05-2021 Pair of Caspian Gulls flying off from nest. 3 eggs in nest, but size not confincing. Should be checked later on.
egg no: width (mm) length (mm) volume (cm3):  water test on April 24th:
  A egg 47,3 68,3 77,05 25 - tip bottom
  B egg 48,7 64,6 80,96 35 - tip bottom
  C egg 48,9   81,87 30 - tip bottom
  sum nest: 239,88

15-05-2021 Uncertainty about location. Long intense search for nests 66 & 72, no eggs / no chicks, but alarming parent over head. Dense vegetation doesn't help.
One block marked red spot with white circle, 5 meters behind this is an empty nest. Was 66???
Maybe nest 72 is nest 39-2020?
