Larus cachinnans 2CY-4CY PACX September 2010 - March 2012, Deponie Pohlsche Heide - Minden, Germany (52°23'05N, 08°46'45E). Picture: Armin Deutsch.

Yellow PACX and metal (PLG) DN25320, ringed as pullus on May 13 2009 at Zwirownia, Zakole, Poland, (50°02' N,  19°28' E). This is a mixed breeding colony in S Poland (near Jankowice), with most birds breeding here cachinnans, but in this area also records of very few michahellis are possible (see PDF). PACX is classic cachinnans.

Moulting inner primaries P1-P2, now adult-like grey, P5-P10 old 2nd gen. Note pattern on old 2nd gen secondaries and tail.

Classic 2nd summer plumage: snow white head, saturated bare parts, active complete moult revealed by fresh coverts and upper tertials. Also, P1-P4 new adult-like 3rd gen, central primaries missing, P7-P10 still old 2nd gen.

Adult-like plumage in resting bird, but when wings are raised, obvious immature secondaries and greater primary coverts. Note relatively short pale tongue and broad sub-terminal band on 3rd gen P10 and no mirror on P9.
