(2 imgaes) LBBG 2cy NLA 5.361.744 October 22 2001, Westkapelle, the Netherlands. This 2cy LBBG is ringed "Ringstation Arnhem: 5.361.744", ringed in the Netherlands. It was ringed as pullus on July 03 2000 at Industrial complex Moerdijk (51.41N 04.35E). It completely differs from the green ringed AH53, as it shows extensive grey scapulars, an almost complete grey median covert bar and some greyish inner greater coverts. Birds like this one, although it's still October, are practically ready for 3cy plumage and this is more or less what may be expected next year as they return from the wintering areas (although feathers will be more abraded by then). As can be seen in the images, there is hardly any feather missing (no moult gaps, except in the lowest row of lower scapulars where two feathers seem to be missing) and probably this plumage remains unchanged throughout winter. |
