Lesser Black-backed Gull (graellsii & intermedius)

3cy graellsii, ringed at IJmuiden on July 08 2003. In many respects resembling 4cy birds, but note the black markings on the bill and outer wing-coverts. Most of the upper-parts adult-like grey and the tail is white when seen from aside. However, the secondaries and primaries are bleached brown, second generation feathers without a mirror on P10 and when preening the dark spots on the tail feathers are visible. Dark iris. P1 still in place.
