Lesser Black-backed Gull (graellsii & intermedius)

Lesser Black-backed Gull graellsii BTO GHxxxxx adult, March 30 2002, Maasvlakte, the Netherlands.

Adult bird ringed right leg with an English BTO ring. It's a not unusual to find ringed adults from abroad breeding here. So far, birds were found wearing rings from Britain, Belgium and from Norway in this Dutch colony. There were more recoveries of British birds in foreign colonies as well: a couple of records from France and Spain can be found on the bottom of this page. Unfortunately, the ring code was not read completely.

Note small mirror. Probably female.
