Lesser Black-backed Gull intermedius NOS 4132983 15CY, November 02 2002, Westkapelle, the Netherlands.

Adult intermedius, metal ringed NOS 4132983, from Scandinavia. Ringed as pullus on July 09 1988 at518 Langenesveien, Søgne, Vest-Agder, Norway (58° 1' 59N, 7° 55' 0E).

Primary moult score (PMS) of 39, with the outer primaries P9-P10 still old. P9 lacks a mirror. Moult will progress at a very low pace or will be suspended until arrival at the wintering grounds. Compare the grey tone of the upper-parts with the Herring Gulls. This is a rather elongated bird (cachinnans-like) with a longer neck and attenuated rear end, unlike the more compact canus-like individuals in the other images. It's a dark grey individual with the head-streaking concentrated in the lower hind-neck, on the crown and around the eye.
