Atlantic YLG 2cy March

Atlantic YLG (atlantis) 2cy, March 26 2008, Funchal, Madeira Islands. Picture: Thijs Valkenburg. Much dark in tail; Med michahellis normally has only a single sub-terminal band on the outer web of R6, but atlantis may show several transversal bars here (3 bars in this bird).
Atlantic YLG (atlantis) 2cy, March 30 2008, Funchal, Madeira Islands. Picture: Thijs Valkenburg. Central MC seem to be replaced late in the post-juvenile moult cycle, in fact quite recently as is more typical for graellsii / intermedius. Michahellis normally ends the post-juvenile moult in wing-coverts before mid-November.
