Herring
Gull

France (50.42N,1.34E).

It's difficult to
identify this 3cy Herring Gull to taxon. It's an individual
with about 50% of the scapulars and mantle feathers adult-like grey. The
old third generation feathers still show an obvious anchor pattern. All
wing-coverts and tertials look very worn. The upper tertial has been
replaced in the partial autumn moult as the white fringe indicates.
