Photo 4: Yellow-legged
Gull 1cy August 25 2000, Le Portel / Boulogne-sur-Mer, France.
This
bird has moulted many mantle feathers and scapulars. The pattern on the greater
coverts and tertials is all-dark brown with narrow white edges (some of these
fringes are worn away already).
Three lesser coverts are missing and two are growing and one median covert is
missing.
The head is pale with a dark smudge around the eye and on the crown.
