10: Yellow-legged
Gull 1cy August 25 2000, Boulogne-sur-Mer, France.
Again a bird which has moulted many mantle and
scapulars. The bill is slightly paler
than suspected in 1cy and the head and the under-parts show a white
ground-colour, making the overall impression very pale. The head is rounded and
relatively small, yet the bill stands out obvious heavy. Note the long-winged
jizz. This bird was photographed in evening light conditions, so the chocolate brown colour
has turned into a warm hue on the coverts. In front is a Herring Gull argenteus.
