Photo 7393: Yellow-legged
Gull 1cy, August
10 2003, Etaples, France.
This 1cy michahellis has only slight
wear in the inner wing-coverts, upper tertials and scapulars. Many 1cy michahellis
show extensive dark centres
of the median, central and outer greater coverts, reaching to the
edge of the feather at the base. In this individual, these feathers show a
notched pattern, most reminiscent of Herring Gull 1cy. A few upper scapulars have been replaced for
second generation feathers, showing narrow anchor patterns.
