269: YLG
(L. michahellis) 1cy, November 22 2003, Rosas, NE Spain.
An individual which replaced none of the tertials nor wing-coverts in the post-juvenile
moult. Moreover, the fringes of the wing-coverts have an obvious notched
pattern, reminiscent of Herring Gull (L. argentatus). Most scapulars have been replaced for
second generation feathers, but the rear lower scapulars were not judged
and may still be juvenile.
A strong and powerful bird, probably a
male. The bill is most dark.
