Photo 113: YLG (L. michahellis) 1cy, November
08 2003, IJmuiden, the
Netherlands.
A typical 1cy michahellis with more advanced
moult in the under-parts than local argenteus. Head, breast and most of the
flanks moulted to second generation, but note the few older juvenile feathers in
between. All upper scapulars and nearly all lower scapulars replaced. Upper
tertial missing. Some wing-coverts replaced for second generation: central
median and central lower lesser coverts most obvious, but note also the second
generation innermost greater coverts. Note the pale legs with pinkish shins.
