    Yellow-legged
Gull (L. michahellis) 1cy, September 20 2002, Le Portel, France.
       Another example of a 1cy Yellow-legged
Gulls with all the tertials still juvenile. In the wing-coverts several
feathers have been moulted: the second greater covert, the second median covert, the
third lower lesser covert and about ten lesser coverts. A few central
lesser and lower lesser coverts are missing. Almost all scapulars are
second generation now, except a few feathers in the lowest row of lower
scapulars. Moult is obvious in progress in the under-parts: second
generation feathers are growing in the hind-neck, sides of the breast and
      on the head.
