Photo 010: Yellow-legged Gull michahellis 2cy,
April 19 2002, Etaples, NW France (50.42N,1.34E).
Compare the 2cy michahellis with the 2cy
argenteus in the background. The greater coverts are much darker in michahellis,
the bold pattern on the rear lower scapulars are obvious and michahellis often
shows third generation grey adult-like upper lower scapulars. Note the
neck-collar as well, running down along the side-breast. This individual has all
the tertials juvenile and at least two lesser coverts were replaced in the
post-juvenile moult.
