photo 10: Yellow-legged Gull michahellis 2cy,
August 25 2000, Le Portel / Boulogne-sur-Mer, NW France.
Primary
moult score: P8 is fully grown. Here the bill is still all black and the
legs are salmon pink. The tertials and the greater coverts have all been
replaced. The second generation outer greater coverts show a densely
variegated pattern. The outer median coverts have been shed and in the
lesser coverts a few moult gaps are visible as well. Most of the scapulars
are grey adult-like feathers but in the upper scapulars a few dark centred
feathers are still present.
