photo 12: Yellow-legged Gull michahellis 2cy,
August 25 2000, Le Portel / Boulogne-sur-Mer, NW France.
A
powerful, strong michahellis, high-breasted with an elongated rear
end at rest, resembling cachinnans in stance, but note e.g. the
strong bill with a clear gonydeal angle. An example of an rather
contrastingly patterned plumage with barred markings on the fresh
scapulars and coverts. Advanced primary moult stage: P9 fully grown.
