photo 7211: Yellow-legged Gull michahellis 2cy, August 08 2003, Boulogne-sur-Mer, NW France. A 2cy michahellis with P1-P7 fully grown and no old juvenile primaries left. The upper five tertials have been replaced for second generation feathers, while the lowest tertial (tt6) and adjacent secondaries are still old. The complete moult in the wing-coverts is nearly finished and this individual is just replacing the last old second generation lesser coverts, which have been moulted already once half a year ago. The median covert and lower lesser covert row show much irregularity as well, with several fresh feathers growing, still showing a clear anchor pattern on a grey base. Recently replaced scapulars are plain grey, some with an ill-defined black shaft-streak. |
