photo 7411: Yellow-legged Gull michahellis 2cy,
August 10 2003, Etaples, NW France.
Typical 2cy michahellis with P8 fully
grown and no old juvenile primaries left. In the left wing, the upper
tertial and the innermost greater and median covert have been shed and
this may be an indication that the partial autumn moult in 2cy has
started. Almost all wing-coverts show an obvious barred pattern. Some very
recently replaced scapulars are plain grey.
Note pink-salmon legs, much black on the bill and the dark brown iris,
typical features in 2cy michahellis.
