photo 7566: Yellow-legged Gull michahellis 2cy,
August 10 2003, Etaples, NW France.
Two completely different 2cy michahellis,
one rather small individual (probably female) showing much grey on
scapulars and mantle; the other much larger individual showing dense
anchor patterns on almost all scapulars and wing-coverts. Both individuals
have P8 fully grown. Note the
salmon pink legs and the dark centres of the tertials.
In the right bird: The upper tertial has been shed again and this
may be an indication that the partial autumn moult has started.
