photo 5627: Yellow-legged Gull michahellis 2cy,
July 28 2001, Etaples, NW France.
Probably the most advanced moult stage
found in 2cy michahellis by the end of July. The scapulars and
mantle are plain grey, as in adults. The greater coverts #4-5 are
grey-based, like the inner and central median coverts. These coverts are 3rd
or maybe already 4th generation coverts (then moulted in
August, April and now in July). Primary moult score: p7 is
full-grown and p10 is still juvenile.
