photo 2065: Yellow-legged Gull michahellis 3cy, June 26 2003, Etaples, France (50.42N,1.34E).

A 3cy michahellis with different generation tail-feathers: R5-R4 are most obvious second generation tail-feathers with a broad dark sub-terminal band, while R2-R3 have much fresher tips and only limited black. The dark markings are deeper black, not like the bleached brownish band on R4-R5, indicating these feathers were moulted more recently. P7-P10 are still old second generation, P10 without a white mirror. P4 is fully grown and the tip of P5 is just visible, showing black sub-terminal markings.
