Yellow-legged Gull michahellis 742D, June 28 2003, Etaples, France (50.42N,1.34E). A 4cy michahellis with P5-P10 old in the left wing and P6-P10 old in the right wing. P10 has a small but distinct mirror. The tail is completely white, and all tail-feathers are old and present. There are many brown wing-coverts in the carpal edge and in the inner greater coverts (the first moulted feathers in the complete moult) and some of the median and lower lesser coverts have dark shaft streaks on the otherwise adult-grey feathers. The primary coverts have small black tips. 742D has yellow legs, a clear yellow bill, a rather dark yellow iris, a red gonydeal spot on the lower mandible and complete grey upper-parts (mantle and scapular region). The orbital ring is obviously red. This bird was ringed near Marseille, S France, probably in year 1999. When data are available, more information will be added. |
