photo 6: Yellow-legged
Gull michahellis adult, August 25 2000, Etaples, France
(50.44N,01.35E).
Flying
overhead, the moult stage can be checked nicely: active moult in the
tail-feathers, primary P4 almost fully grown and P5 at 1/4 of the final length.
The outer wing still shows three primaries: P8-P10 still present. All the
secondaries are still present, and compare the secondary moult to immature
Yellow-legged Gulls in other sections.
Especially 2cy would show an almost completely finished primary moult by this
date.
