photo 6071: Yellow-legged
Gull michahellis adult, October 24 2002, Etaples, France
(50.44N,01.35E).
Primary P9 is just visible falling short of P8.
The average adult Yellow-legged Gull develops a limited amount of head-streaking
on ear-coverts and crown and there is a hint of black on both upper and lower
mandible. Note the red orbital ring and deep yellow legs. The tail is completely
replaced and the complete autumn moult will be finished soon with P9 and P10 as
the last growing primaries.
