In this area are mixed breeding colonies (near Katowice), with far most birds breeding here are cachinnans, but in this area also records of very few michahellis from the south (e.g. ringed female from Italy) and argentatus from eastern Germany are possible (see PDF). PHLC is classic cachinnans. below: cachinnans 2CY PHLC March 22 2012, Deponie Pohlsche Heide - Minden, Germany (52°23'05N, 08°46'45E). Picture: Armin Deutsch. White headed, compare to 2CY argentatus. Female?
below: several coverts replaced in post-juvenile moult. By March the difference with the older juvenile feathers may be hard to detect.
below: with 2CY argentatus red HL50, from Germany. By March, argentatus is normally still very streaked on head, while cachinnans may be snowy white, streaking concentrated in hindneck. below: cachinnans 2CY PHLC April 11 2012, Deponie Pohlsche Heide - Minden, Germany (52°23'05N, 08°46'45E).
