cachinnans plumages

Larus cachinnans 3CY 595H November 25 2012, Jakuševec-Zagreb, Croatia. Picture: ringing team Luka Jurinovic.

Orange 595H, ringed at Zagreb landfill. Difficult bird, probably cachinnans but michahellis hard to exclude. Note especially 3rd gen outer primaries, with deep pale tongues on P7-P9 and with a large mirror already on P10 and a long white tongue on P10. There is still a full subterminal band on P10, but immature birds normally have much more black than full adults do.
