Larus cachinnans 3CY PANX December 27 2011, Herstal - Liege, Belgium. Picture: Peter Adriaens.

Perfect illustrative bird to show the "fast development" of patterns in feather groups: only 3rd cyle / 3rd winter bird with adult-like primaries (although much more black in wingtip than in full aduls, but already clear-cut divisions), almost completely adult-like row of secondaries, limited markings on greater covert centres, tertials and wing-coverts in the carpal edge.
