cachinnans plumages

Larus cachinnans 4CY 10P3 January 26 2010, Deponie Pohlsche Heide - Minden, Germany (52°23'05N, 08°46'45E). Picture: Armin Deutsch.

Green ring from Poland. Ringed as pullus green 10P3 & metal PLG DN-21213 on May 05 2007 in the mixed colony at Włocławek Reservoir, central Poland (52°39'N, 19°08'E). No details on parentage.

Compact bird with rounded head and relatively short legs, and already paler iris in 3W may be suggestions for hybrid. Nonetheless, classic cachinnans long-call and "albatros posture" when competing over food resources. Lot of black in P10 but not uncommon in 3rd gen primaries.
