cachinnans plumages

Larus cachinnans (near-) adult, September 2006, Histria, Romania. Picture: Chris Gibbins.

Maybe cachinnans, maybe hybrid. P10 almost thayeri, very good for cachinnans. The pattern on P10 is relatively stable in pure Caspian Gull and hence critical for identification. However, there is some variability in this feature. This bird, for example, shows a thayeri pattern on the outermost primary (P10) as well as P9.
