Yellow-legged Gull michahellis 1CY July 28 2001, Le Portel, NW France.

A few scapulars are missing. This is an example of a bird showing obvious wear, compared to more tidy birds we came across in juveniles by the end of July 2001 at Boulogne-sur-Mer. Note the fringes of the juvenile scapulars and especially the inner coverts. Nevertheless, the overall impression of the feathers is pretty neat.
