Two different individuals showing limited post juvenile moult in wing-coverts and tertials. Both photographed in NE spain, in the fishin harbour of Rosas.
Top two images: An individual which only replaced a limited amount of wing-coverts in the post-juvenile moult. Almost all scapulars have been replaced for second generation feathers, but the rear lower scapulars are still juvenile.
The partial autumn moult included no tertials, greater coverts or median coverts. Only one lower lesser covert and two lesser coverts have been replaced for second generation. The bill is still most dark.
Bottom image: an individual reminiscent of Lesser Black-backed Gull, with the centres of the wing-coverts chocolate-brown. Here, the lower scapulars have all been replaced, but none of the tertials nore wing-coverts were included in the post-juvenile moult.
