Yellow-legged Gull michahellis 4CY, August 11 2008, Portalban, Switzerland. Picture: Stephane Aubry.

Visit Stephane's Pbase site.

Immature looking bird, hard to distinguish from 3CY August birds, but see ringed 4CY birds like this. Aged by combination of features: 3rd gen primaries (but difficult to recognise as P10 mirror is lacking and no obvious white tips), lack of obvious old 2nd gen tail-feathers, and pale iris. Immature patterns on bill, pale legs, and on coverts and lower tertials.
