Yellow-legged Gull michahellis sub-adult / adult, September 30 2001, Dannes, France (50.43N,01.37E).

Two sub-adult or younger adult Yellow-legged Gulls with primary P8 fully grown. Compare the grey tone with the Lesser Black-backed Gull (graellsii/intermedius) in front. Both individuals show well-developed head streaking, appearing as a smudgy patches at the ear-coverts. Note the diffuse bill-band and the pale yellow base of the bill.
