Yellow-legged Gull michahellis 1CY-2CY HES 895110 October 2002 - May 2003, Etaples, NW France (50.42N,1.34E).
This 2CY michahellis has been present at Etaples from at least October 2002 to May 2003 and is ringed Sempach 895110, upside down. It's an individual showing limited moult in the wing-coverts. By early-May 2003, all tertials are still juvenile, two central median coverts are old second generation, two lesser coverts are old second generation and two lesser coverts are missing, all other wing-coverts are still juvenile. These second generation coverts have been included in the partial autumn moult (post-juvenile moult).
About 25-50% of the upper scapulars have been replaced for grey-based third generation feathers and only one upper lower scapular have been replaced for a complete grey third generation feather. The total scapular score is 1-25% moulted to third generation.
The complete tail is still juvenile. Primaries P1-P2 have been dropped. The legs are pale and the orbital ring starts to turn reddish. The bill-base is paler, but not sharply defined, rather diffuse.
