General remarks:

  • Eggs: Volume measured by Stonehouse (1964) and Spaans & Spaans (1975), which make comparison possible with data from Texel (Camphuysen pers comm 16.04.2020).
  • Nest 255 positioned on dam 2 west section: 6 mtr east of lighthouse dam 2, visible from N side. Coded with "X". Nest of Herrings, is part of "Herring Gull control group".
  • ID certain in 2023: both parents are Herring Gulls.
  • ID certain in 2024: both parents are Herring Gulls.
location April 26th, 2023: 2 eggs in nest. May 27th, 2023: both parents are Herring Gulls. April 21st, 2024: 1 egg.

27-04-2023 adult: probably cach is one of the parents? In retrospect: no, it was from other nest.

27-05-2023 adult: Herring Gull 2x present.
pullus 3x chicks ringed and measured.
18-06-2023 pullus g-8|K & g-8|J present, at nest site. We did not enter the dam.
