Cachinnans - nest Lelystad 262

General remarks:

  • Eggs: Volume measured by Stonehouse (1964) and Spaans & Spaans (1975), which make comparison possible with data from Texel (Camphuysen pers comm 16.04.2020).
  • Nest 262 positioned on dam 2 central section: slightly more north of old location of 18. Ten mtr W of 14, on N side. Code sprayed.
  • ID uncertain in 2023: one parent seems to be Caspian Gull, but no supporting images.
location May 11th, 2023: full clutch, 3 eggs in nest. . .

30-04-2023 nest: 3 eggs. Measured & water test: A 90 - tip bottom
adult: 2 adults present. B 70 - tip bottom
C 80 - tip bottom
11-05-2023 eggs 3x
18-05-2023 pulli: 2 chicks ringed, 1 egg hatching. Metal only, too small
27-05-2023 pulli: 1x dead unringed chick in nest.
18-05-2023 pulli: saw 2 juvenile birds with metal only during the day around this location. Could be the 2 fledged chicks, or the same bird twice.
